The First Baptist Church of Opelika has opened its sanctuary to workers. If you intend to spend the night bring your own sleeping bag. Temporary showers will be available. If you wish to contribute items he suggests brown bag items (small, portable, non perishable) for the workers as they go into the field. FBC’s sanctuary will be open 24 hours a day for worker volunteers. The Church of the Highlands has secured hotel rooms but no further details are available.

Jericho also indicated that 38 hosts from airbnb.com are providing free board Mar 5- 25th for displaced neighbors and relief workers deployed to help.

The following posted locations are available for distributions:

First Baptist Church 8am-6pm
Greater Peace BC 8-6 Sat 8-2
Trinity Methodist 1-4 Fri 8-12
Providence Baptist 8-6

Distribution facilities have more supplies than they can handle. A volunteer reception center will open tomorrow
to match abilities to needs of the hour. It will open at 8am
though the location has not been determined.

The County Coroner has positively identified all the bodies. They range from age 6 to 89. Seven of the lost came from one family. The Sheriff is reporting that there may be seven or eight people still missing. They are searching carefully while heavy equipment is moving into the areas to remove debris.
The public is asked not to try to come into the affected areas.

The Lee County Sheriff Department reports no looting, crime or acts of vandalism.

Most major networks have given extensive coverage to this tragedy. State and national officials have all formerly expressed their condolences to the families that lost loved ones.

Temperatures will be below freezing again tonight.

Please reflect on the families of the fallen along with their caregivers. Please also remember those who are tasked with the difficult process of dealing with the large number of funerals and burials that will take place over the next several days. Our own Immediate Past District Governor, Bill Trant has this daunting task. Please keep him in your prayers.
